	Our Aim Who needs our help? What are RTDC? Our Aim Our aim is to improve the care of patients with skin and sexually transmitted disease who do not have access to specialist skills. For the most part this work is carried out through training health workers appropriate for the local environment. In addition we have been carrying out a series of needs assessments and developing as well as evaluating treatment regimens and protocols for more general use in the developing world. These have contributed to health care in areas as diverse as the control of common skin infections and the management of lymphoedema in lymphatic filariasis. 	Examples of models of training methods include: A two year University Diploma to create planners and advisers to Ministries of Health and Universities, who can also provide a clinical service and collect epidemiological data. Residency training programmes. Short training courses to enable health care workers to identify and manage the key local skin diseases.
