A rural dermatology care programme has been initiated in Neuquen, Patagonia, Argentina. Developed by Isabel Casas, a dermatologist, and supported by the Argentinian national societies of dermatology and the IFD the programme treats and provides education in skin care at local level for the rural populations.

The area covered by the programme is remote and mountainous and there is a high level of skin disease ranging from scabies and eczema to endemic photo (sun) sensitivity. The picture shows a sun protection workshop run by and for local school children
